[RUBRIC:] GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JOHN (Chapter 19, Verse 38). First and Third *Jayn* [liturgical tone mode]. Concerning the Burial and Resurrection of our Lord JESUS CHRIST:

[Tone] 1. } After this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of JESUS in secret for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of JESUS; and Pilate gave [him] leave. He came and took Him away. [Tone] 3. } And Nicodemus also came, he who at first had come to JESUS by night, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds [weight]. They took the body of JESUS and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the custom of the Jews to prepare for burial. Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in that garden a new tomb in which no one had ever yet been laid. There, because of the Jewish Preparation Day, since the tomb was nearby, they laid JESUS. And on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene cometh early, at the dawn, unto the tomb, and seeth the stone tak[en away...]
